About Jimmy Nelson
At the age of 16, I was accidentally prescribed the wrong medication and suffered from Alopecia totalis and lost all my hair. At the Jesuit boarding school I attended at the time this was mistaken for a sign of awkward rebellion. Because I felt so socially isolated I unconsciously initiated my quest of finding a place where I felt comfortable in the world. At the age of 17, my choice was Tibet, where according to my own naive and romantic research, all young men were and where he felt he could find empathy.
